A rare Royal Forester's 1760/78 Pattern flintlock light dragoon pistol
Round 10 inch .66 caliber smoothbore barrel, marked in center on breech with two ordnance marks, a crown on barrel tang, and a crown over 4 on barrel right of touch hole. Flat lockplate with double line border; marked Tower on lock tang and with engraved crown over GR cypher in center of lockplate along with ordnance mark. Brass furniture including heavy dragoon style wrist escutcheon, full stirrup buttcap, "Blue's" pattern sideplate and light dragoon style triggerguard and ramrod thimble. Triggerguard marked with crown inside bow. Original wooden ramrod with brass tip. Walnut stock with relief shell carved around barrel tang; marked on right side with storekeeper's mark and -78- date partially visible, along with crown over 8 on right side of grip.
Condition: Excellent. Barrel and lock with clear markings and dark grey patina, with some lighter areas on barrel. Brass with mellow patina. Stock showing some light marks from use and small hairline crack on right side of grip.
