4 volumes plus atlas. 4to (252 x 188 mm) and small folio (271 x 208 mm). [8], cxxxii, 437, [2]; [4], 422; [4], 488; [4], 552, [2] pp. Half-titles, errata, list of plates, folding table. Atlas: title, dedication, and 88 engraved plates, maps, and charts (numerous folding). Text in modern cloth-backed marbled boards; atlas in contemporary boards. Text leaves toned with some cockling, scattered foxing, a few repairs to margins, a few tears to large general map extending from folds with some foxing to same, some wear to plate edges, foxing to a handful of plates mostly confined to margins, loss to upper blank corner of Death of Cook plate, boards worn, spine of atlas perished.
