First German edition. Scarce: only one copy appears in the auction records of Americana Exchange. Broughton was commanding Captain Bligh's old ship, the Providence, when he joined with Captain Vancouver's expedition to the northwest coast of America. Broughton's exploration of the mouth of the Columbia river formed the basis for Great Britain's claim to the Oregon country.
