EINSTEIN, ALBERT. 1879-1955.
Autograph Letter Signed ("A. Einstein"), in German, 1 p, August 10, 1939, to Mrs. Razowsky, in German, "A.E. 24" typed to verso at head of sheet, folding creases, light creasing at corners.
Einstein urges Mrs. Razowsky to lend assistance to his lifelong friend and personal physician, Dr. Rudolph Ehrmann, in arranging the details of a teaching position Ehrmann had been offered by New York University. Einstein writes, "I respect Prof. Ehrmann extraordinarily highly and am prepared to do everything possible for him" (translation). The position allowed Ehrmann to emigrate with his family from Berlin at the outset of World War II.
