MONTBLANC: George W. Bush Skeleton Flag Fountain Pen: 1/1
The George W. Bush Skeleton Flag fountain pen has become a legend among high-end Montblanc collectors. Handcrafted by Montblanc's elite Ateliers Prives workshop in the months after the 9/11 terror attacks, it was created as a gift for President Bush to show Montblanc's esteem for the American republic and her people in a time of great peril.

According to a Montblanc spokesperson, the president was "not able to accept a gift of that nature," presumably due to tax complications. It was retained in Montblanc's private pen vault in Hamburg, where it remained until our client was able to negotiate its purchase.

Mindful of this instrument's cultural and historical status, our client stored the pen in a climate-controlled bank vault, where it has been stored, untouched and unseen, until now. An object of fascination and an eloquent tribute to the virtues of freedom, this is perhaps the most historically significant limited edition writing instrument ever made.

18K solid white gold lattice over clear precious resin. Texas and U.S. flags in brilliant-cut diamonds, rubies and sapphires (262 diamonds, .95 ct; 212 rubies, 1.20 ct; 85 sapphires, .47 ct).

Medium 18K gold nib engraved with American eagle. As-new condition. Includes all original packaging and papers (outer box, display box & booklet marked "Stars & Stripes," outer & inner boxes additionally marked "Skeleton G.W. Bush 1/1"). Limited Edition: 1/1.

Provenance: From the White Gloves Collection.
