Daniel del Solar (1940-2012) was a prominent public media figure based in the San Francisco Bay Area. He was the son of Venezuelan artist Luchita Hurtado, the stepson of Lee Mullican and half-brother of Matt Mullican. Del Solar dedicated his life to the documentation of Latino social justice issues, including producing public programming for PBS, reporting on equal rights movements in Cuba and Chile, co-founding and writing poetry for a cultural magazine and photographing Latino/Chicano events locally and globally. The Daniel del Solar Papers are held by the University of California, Santa Barbara.
