Footnotes

  • After a Chinese Yixing or a Dutch, Ary de Milde, stoneware example. The type is listed in the 1711 inventory of the Meissen manufactory: 'niedrige runde TheeKrügel mit erhabenen Blumen' [low round small teapot with raised flowers]. A closely similar example in the historic collection in Dresden is illustrated by E. Zimmermann, Erfindung und Frühzeit des Meissner Porzellans (1908), ill. 34.
