A floral marquetry longcase clock
late 17th century

The flat top hood with molded cornice over later spirally twisted columns, the sides fitted with hinged glazed panels secured by latches, the long trunk door with all over floral marquetry and oval lenticle, on a matching base with later skirting, associated movement with six knopped and ringed latched pillars, anchor escapement, striking the hour on bell by means of outside countwheel, altered and adapted 12-inch square dial bearing the signature John Aylward of Brentford fecit.
