ARROWSIC ISLAND, MAINE.
Manuscript in an unknown hand, 1 p (with integral blank), legal folio, n.p., c.1714, titled in docket "A Particular of the Lands Claimed by Sr Bibye Lake and other Proprietors in New England Extracted out of the Indian Purchase Deeds," mild to moderate toning, light spotting at margins, creasing; matted and framed.
Sir Bibye Lake [1684-1744] was an English lawyer and aristocrat. His father and grandfather were Boston-born, the latter having purchased Arrowsic Island in Maine in 1660. In 1714, Bibye and Edward Hutchinson, the other proprietor of land in the area, attempted to clarify their ownership in the face of other claims; this document was likely produced as part of that process, as it details the boundaries of "The Lands Claimed by Sr Bibye Lake, Mr [Edward] Hutchinson and other Proprietors of Lands in New England...."
