10 hand-colored engraved maps on 9 sheets (including 8 double-page), disbound, English text printed on verso, 542 x 428 mm (sheet size), one map trimmed close at upper margin, short tear to fold at lower blank margin of a few maps, some minor dust-soiling, wrinkling to edges of Valentia map, binder stubs on reverse at folds, overall clean.
A fine collection of maps from the only English edition of Ortelius' Theatrum, the first modern atlas. Comprised of: the dukedome of Aniov, the county of Burgundie, the territorie of Paris, the dukedome of Burgundie, the kingdome of Valentia, Gallia, Blaisois and Lemosin (2 maps on 1 sheet), Poictov, and Picardie. Only 300 copies of the English edition were printed.
