LUCET, [JOACHIM SIMEON. 1797-1855].
Manuscript entitled "Idiotismes Francais et Proverbes proprement dits, recueillis, definis et mis dans un nouvel ordre," [France: early 19th century].
70 pp rectos only, 4to, period half sheep over marbled boards. Spine worn with large chip to head.
Provenance: Brent Graton-Maxfield (inscription on inside cover).
Consists of two parts: idioms and proverbs, both arranged alphabetically. The manuscript bears the name of "J.S. Lucet" and the likeliest candidate is Joachim Simeon Lucet, the London-based author of Langue Francaise, 1843. However the date of the manuscript appears earlier than the mid-19th century; it is possible that the author was Joachim Simeon's parent or other ancestor.
