1986 Yamaha 250cc TY250R Monoshock Trials
Frame no. 30X Y-1
Engine no. 30X Y-1
When the Japanese factories began their onslaught on the world's trials market some 35 years ago they were not discouraged by the small volumes involved; stock production models thus incorporated most of the expensive-to-tool-for "mods" that their (mainly) European test riders had incorporated into the prototypes. Such is the case with Yamaha's TY series. The vendor, an experienced competitor, insists that the 'R' version on offer is a more attractive proposition than the 'S' model, given it is fitted with a lighter plastic fuel tank, superior suspension, and a more tractable engine. After "exposure to the elements" by the previous owner the bike has remained in dry storage since purchased in 2006. In contrast to its appearance, the vendor reports how it almost always starts first kick. Offered without documentation.
