Frame no. HC02100 B175
Engine no. HC02100 B175
Developed from the pre-war DKW RT125 and announced in 1948, the Bantam became a top seller for BSA, in excess of half a million leaving the Birmingham factory before production ceased in 1971. Originally of 123cc, the engine grew first to 148cc and then to 172cc. The Bantam’s final incarnation - the D175 with much-revised engine - appeared in 1969. Although at first glance its power unit looked unchanged, the 175 boasted new crankcase and cylinder head castings, the latter with central spark plug, and a stiffer crankshaft assembly among many other more minor modifications. The preceding D14’s cycle parts were carried over unchanged to the new 175, which was built in roadster and Bushman (trail) versions. Offered for restoration and sold strictly as viewed, this incomplete and partially dismantled Bantam 175 comes with two old-style Swansea V5 documents. No reserve

For Motor Cars and Motorcycles a 15% Buyer's Premium is payable on the first £50,000 of the final Hammer Price of each Lot, and 12% on any amount by which the Hammer Price exceeds £50,000. VAT at the standard rate is payable on the Premium by all Buyers, unless otherwise stated.
