1902 Delahaye 6hp Type O Vis-à-Vis
Chassis no. 120
Engine no. 92

Formerly the property of the Ward Brothers Reserve Collection
1902 Delahaye 6hp Type O Vis-à-Vis
Chassis no. 120
Engine no. 92

This 'time warp' Delahaye is reputed to have been kept from new at the factory, where it is thought to have been a test and development car, and was only sold in the mid-1950s when the receivers were called in. From 1933 to 1950 the car had been campaigned in Rallyes des Ancestres in France by P Roptin, who had been an apprentice at Delahaye when it was built.

The Delahaye participated in the London-Brighton Veteran Car Run in 1959 and was acquired for the collection of M H Lips in Holland in the early 1960s. Lips restored the car and rallied it extensively from 1964 onwards; it was his favourite on the Brighton Road. In the early 1990s it passed to fellow Dutch collector J Jonker prior to acquisition by the Ward Brothers. This handsome Veteran is smartly presented in maroon livery with black wings, fine red coachlining, beige leather upholstery and nickel-plated fittings. Offered with Belgian registration papers, it also comes with a detailed report by leading Veteran authority Malcolm Jeal, justifying the 1902 dating.

An important French Veteran car with outstanding manufacturer's provenance and early history, it would be more than welcome back in France at events organised by 'Les Teuf Teuf' and undoubtedly is eligible for participation again in the London-Brighton Veteran Car Run.
