c.1924 Garelli 349cc Roadster
Frame no. MG2862
Engine no. 5296
Garelli's split-single two-stroke stayed true to its maker's original conception until production ceased in the mid-1930s. The machine offered here is typical of the post-WWI design complete with magneto in front of the cylinders, integral two-speed gearbox - the latter a simplified version of that designed by Adalberto Garelli for Bianchi and chain final drive. This machine incorporates features of both the Turismo and Gran Sport models, boasting the former's foot boards and valanced mudguards, and the latter's sports handlebars. Note the absent front brake, which would not be standard equipment for another year or so. Interestingly, there are two brakes pedals one on either side both of which operate the rear drum brake.
