The machine offered here represents a later development of Garelli's 250 GP racer, which was first seen in this form in 1986 when sole representative Maurizio Vitali finished 15th in the World Championship with 12 points from only three finishes. Its all-black livery suggests the machine was last used in 1988 when Team Pileri was entrusted with running the works effort. Paolo Casoli was the team's sole representative in the 250cc class that year but scored only three points all season.

Cette moto représente une version tardivement développée de la 250 GP de Garelli apparue sous cette forme en 1986 lorsque le seul représentant de la marque, Maurizio Vitali termina 15e au Championnat du Monde avec 12 points engrangés sur trois arrivées seulement. Sa livrée totalement noir suggère qu'elle courut pour la dernière fois en 1988 lorsque le soin de défendre les couleurs officielles fut confié à Team Pileri. Paolo Casoli, seul membre de l'équipe engagé en 250 cette année-là, ne récolta que trois points sur l'ensemble de la saison.
