For the 1936 season the Standard versions of Ariel's Val Page-designed singles were dropped and two new overhead-valve De Luxe models introduced: the 250cc LG and 350cc NG, complementing the sporting Red Hunters. When WW2 broke out, existing stocks of Ariel motorcycles (and those of other makes) were requisitioned for allocation to the British Armed Forces, pending the development of a military version of the 350cc single, designated 'W/NG', which first appeared in 1940 and was manufactured throughout the war. This example was bought from Athens' Hassani military airport (later the Ellenikon civilian airport) at the end of WW2. Restored in 2007 with the assistance of Vassilios Papaioanou and presented in running order, it benefits from recent servicing and is described as in generally very good condition. There are no documents with this Lot.

Les versions Standard des monocylindres Ariel conçus par Val Page furent abandonnées pour la saison 1936 en faveur de deux nouveaux modèles De Luxe à soupapes en tête : la 250 cm3 LG et la 350 cm3 NG en complément des sportives Red Hunter. Au déclenchement de la Seconde Guerre mondiale, les stocks de motos Ariel (comme ceux d'autres marques) furent réquisitionnés par l'autorité militaire pour être alloués aux forces armées britanniques en attendant la mise au point de la version militaire de la « 350 mono » désignée « W/NG » qui apparut en 1940 pour être produite pendant toute la guerre. Cet exemplaire fut acheté sur l'aérodrome militaire Hassani d'Athènes (devenu l'aéroport civil d'Ellenikon) à la fin de la Seconde Guerre mondiale. Restaurée en 2007 avec l'aide de Vassilios Papaioanou et présentée en état de fonctionnement, elle a bénéficié récemment d'un entretien. Elle est décrite comme étant en bon état général et dépourvue de tout document d'immatriculation.
