Introduced in 1921, the 490cc sidevalve-engined Model 16H would be continuously up-dated for the next 30-plus years. The 16H saw service with the Allies throughout WW2, forming the majority of the 100,000-or-so Nortons supplied to British and Commonwealth armed forces. Machines were modified to meet the needs of their particular sphere of operations and the 16H proved well suited to military work, being relatively simple in construction and easily maintained while possessing better-than-average ground clearance and good all-round performance. This example was bought from Athens' Hassani military airport (later the Ellenikon civilian airport) at the end of WW2. Restored in 2007 with the assistance of Vassilios Papaioanou and presented in running order, it benefits from recent servicing and is described as in generally very good condition. There are no documents with this Lot.

Introduite en 1921, la Norton Model 16H 490 cm3 latérale allait être sans cesse modernisée pendant plus de 30 ans. La 16H servit les forces alliées tout au long de la Seconde Guerre mondiale au cours de laquelle elle représenta la majeure partie des plus de 100 000 Norton fournies aux forces britanniques et du Commonwealth. Ces machines furent modifiées en fonction des nécessités opérationnelles et la 16H se révéla très bien adaptée aux tâches militaires en étant de construction relativement simple et facile à entretenir tout en offrant une garde au sol supérieure à la moyenne et des performances globales correctes. Cet exemplaire fut acheté sur l'aérodrome militaire Hassani d'Athènes (devenu l'aéroport civil d'Ellenikon) à la fin de la Seconde Guerre mondiale. Restaurée en 2007 avec l'aide de Vassilios Papaioanou et présentée en état de fonctionnement, elle a bénéficié récemment d'un entretien. Elle est décrite comme étant en bon état général, mais dépourvue de tout document d'immatriculation.
