Qing dynasty Boldly carved in the form of a boy carrying a dog, the figure with happy facial expression and dressed in loose garments, seated with left leg crossed and right leg bent, his hands cuddling the canine with head turned backwards, the stone of an pale blue colour with natural russet veins. 5.7cm high.

The superb carving technique on the attractive pale blue stone exhibited on the current lot is reminiscent of the highest quality turquoise matrix snuff bottles commissioned for the Qing court. For an example in the National Palace Museum, Taipei, with realistic depiction and similar elaborate carving of animals and fruits, see Snuff Bottles in the Collection of The National Palace Museum, Taipei, 1991, p.266, pl.402-404.
