Worked in the form of a cross-sectioned peach with tall sides, the exterior with one side plain, the other side inscribed with a nineteen-character inscription in running script followed by a two-character signature of the artist.

  • The inscription can be translated as 'The inscriptions make the plantain leaf so green. When reading the word "plum blossoms", the inscription becomes fragrant. Inscribed in memory of four brothers by Chunpu'.

    清 紅木桃形筆筒

    筆筒呈桃形,直身,平地。一面刻行草「書成蕉葉文猶綠,吟到梅花句亦香。心存四兄屬。純甫。」,行筆流暢自然,書風溫婉有力。

    此詩句出自伕名《時古對類》,比喻書寫到蕉葉去,亦有清新感覺,詩吟到有關梅花的字句去,也有一種香氣,此句特別之處在於也有被引用在清曹雪芹著《紅樓夢》一書。
