A rare bamboo figure of Dongfang Shuo
Early Qing dynasty
The elderly figure naturalistically carved, depicted seated slightly leaning forward on rockwork with both legs pendant, his head tilted right revealing a smiling facial expression, his hair neatly wrapped in a bunch, the left hand holding the fruit of longevity and the right resting atop his right knee, adorned in loose overflowing robes tied at the waist and hanging a double gourd and ruyi at the rear.
14.6cm high.

- 清早期 竹雕東方朔坐像
取竹根圓雕東方朔倚坐湖石，頭系高髻，長鬍及胸，長衣闊袖，左手捧一壽桃，右手撫膝，頭部微偏，面含笑容，身後腰間系靈芝葫蘆，姿態平和安逸。
此雕像刀法圓熟，風格妙趣橫生，包漿沉拙，竹表面可見殘餘金漆，應為後加。更多有關東方朔與壽桃為主題紋飾的竹雕，請參看拍品322。
