Footnotes

  • The shape of the current lot was developed from the archer's ring. The earliest archer's ring was excavated from the Shang dynasty tomb of Fu Hao in Yinxu. These rings were characterised by having a hole in the centre and sharp extremities. After the Han dynasty, the development of such types of archer's rings become less functional but more decorative.
