Footnotes

  • Yuegulou is a famous historical structure which housed the stone plinth with carved inscriptions called Sanxitang fatie, built during the eighteenth year of the Qianlong period (1753). Yuegulou is crescent-shaped and has two floors, located by the lakeside at the Imperial gardens of Beihai Park, northwest of Qiongdao. In the twelfth year of the Qianlong period (1747), the Emperor commissioned a compilation of writing and calligraphy from the Six Dynasties to the Ming dynasty to be carved onto the stone plinth, hence forming the Sanxitang shiqiubao ji fatie, which was subsequently placed within the Yuegulou.
