An Imperial white jade 'chi dragon' brushwasher

The oval-shaped vessel raised on four ruyi-head feet, the body with curved sides and splayed at the end, superbly worked on each side with a handle in the form of a chi dragon depicted clambering the vessel, the mythical beast with long bifurcated tails and muscular hind legs, its paws clenching tight and head resting on the mouthrim, original wood stand.

    清乾隆 御製白玉雙螭龍耳橢圓形洗

    玉質潔淨瑩白,雕成橢圓形洗,扁身,四如意雲紋足。洗兩面凸雕雙螭龍,龍前足攀抓著洗之邊沿,頭部成兩耳,其身及尾部緊貼洗身,螭龍有力,造型古樸,是一件結合圓雕及浮雕技巧之文房尚品。

    可比較形式及雕工極為相似之清宮舊藏例子,白玉雙螭龍耳橢圓洗,見張廣文主編,《故宮博物院藏文物珍品大系.玉器(下)》,上海,2008,頁230,圖版191。該例子之圓圈足內琢有陰線「乾隆年製」篆書款。
