Footnotes

  • Gervais-Maximilien-Eugene Durand, born in Paris in 1839, was one of the foremost ebenistes of the second half of the 19th century. He was famous for his exquisite copies of 18th century French furniture and his work is considered equal to Beurdeley and Dasson.

A nearly identical cartonnier by Gervais-Maximilien Durand is illustrated on page 182 of Le Mobilier Francais du XIXe Siecle, Denise Ledoux-Lebard, 1984.
