Meiji period
The first of cherry-blossom shape with the slightly convex top with butterflies and flowering peony executed in translucent enamels and mother-of-pearl inlay, the lobed sides finely decorated in gold hiramakie, takamakie and togidashi with flying phoenixes, scattered roundels of dragons and phoenix, together with blossoms and scrolling leafy vines, portions silhouetted against a gyobu nashij cloud band and all reserved on a patterned brocade ground, silver edge bands (cracks, losses); the second of folding fan shape and decorated in gilt hiramakie with a bird on a branch on a usu-nashiji ground (wear).
