possibly Dagoty, Paris

Of navette form raised on the backs of two winged cupids kneeling on one knee and holding a quiver of arrows, on conforming base relief molded with lion mask and palmettes, all on lion paw feet.

    Descended through the family to Emily Gilpin Hopkinson (1890-1972), great granddaughter of Joseph Hopkinson (1770-1842).

    Joseph Hopkinson was a congressman, jurist, and author of "Hail Columbia" maintained a country residence at Bordentown, NJ, and became a close advisor, and friend Joseph Bonaparte, Comte de Survilliers, (1768-1844). Various members of the family were given objects by Bonaparte. Emily Gilpin Hopkinson donated a number of these objects to The Athenæum of Philadelphia.
