Extra-illustrated with approximately 250 plates by Alken, Hogarth, etc, including 7 hand-colored and 2 folding, an ALS from the editor, and approximately 90 leaves from period newspapers, books, etc. Quarter brown morocco and marbled boards, gilt spine titles, top edge gilt, marbled endpapers. Binding a bit dry. First Tooke edition of the works of English satirist and poet Churchill (1731-1764). The tipped-in letter from Tooke discusses the illustrations in the present copy.
