An early brass ship's engine room gong
attributed to Charles Cory, 1892
with serial number 174 stamped on the brass "speaking tube" funnel with date 1892, with a single 12 in. diameter brass bell with acorn finial, twin spring loaded 14 in. brass hammer arms, each with a wood head, all mounted on an original wood backing plate with cast frame. The brass funnel complete with 1-1/2 in. diameter fittings for sound tubes (some rust and oxidation).
