A Flemish 17th century ivory inlaid ebony and ebonised cabinet with fourteen painted panels
on a later base
the hinged top inset with a rectangular panel centred by the figure of Christ, above a pair of moulded cupboard doors, the inside painted with further panels depicting the life of Christ, the interior fitted with a pair of cupboard doors flanked to each side by circular columns, surmounted by a drawer with balustrade gallery, the sides with an arrangement of ten drawers each painted with a mythological scene, opening to reveal an ebony and ivory parquet floor with arched mirrored back and a further nine drawers, the frieze fitted with two drawers, the sides with iron handles, on a later base with square tapering supports, each joined by an 'X'-shaped stretcher, on bun feet, 112cm wide, 51cm deep, 156cm high (44" wide, 20" deep, 61" high).
