"In 1969, to commemorate the Apollo 10 mission, Denoyer Geppert designed a special lunar globe that the astronauts of the mission presented to President Nixon. Contracted by NASA, Denoyer Geppert created the first complete Moon globe, using the Apollo 10 film footage and photographs of the far side of the moon. 200 first edition globes of this type were produced, the first of which went to President Nixon and four others to special members of Congress" (American Globe Preservation Society, AMGS Newsletter, March 2012, p 4). The present globe is a later edition, showing the landing sites for Apollo missions up to Apollo 15 (July 30, 1971) but not Apollo 16 (April 21, 1972).
