A white jade 'deer and crane' vase and cover
Of archaistic hu form, the elegantly shaped vessel supported on a splayed foot, the compressed body rising to a curved neck terminating with a lipped rim, exquisitely worked on one side with a buck and doe under a tree amongst rockwork, the reverse with a riverscape scene of a crane standing on one leg on a rock and the other perched on a pine tree, the neck flanked by a pair of mythical beast head handles suspending loose rings, all surmounted by a domed cover topped with an oval knop with enclosed wan character above a band of ruyi-heads, the clear stone of an icy white colour.
