Noel Wallace Kidston was born at Bramshott, Hants on 23rd December 1881. He was educated at Bradfield College from 1894-98, and Edinburgh University from 1901-06. He was an Orthopaedic Surgeon and a specialist in limb fitting. He worked initially at Birmingham General Hospital and later Queen Mary's Hospital in Roehampton until 1930. He was then Senior Medical Officer at Portsmouth for some 20 years. In 1940 he was in charge of the Reception Station at Portsmouth.
Capt RAMC (TF) 1.5.1910 A/Major 7.3.1918, retd 1921. Rejoined as Lieut RAMC 26.7.1941 aged 60. From 1.11.1913 onwards he was Medical Officer of the Liverpool Scottish, and his fellow M.O. in the unit was Lieut N.G.Chavasse V.C. and bar, D.S.O., M.C..
