With Red Cross Medals for Proficiency in Nursing (19543 V. de Trafford) and First Aid (27496 V.De.Trafford). Very fine or better. (8)

Footnotes

  • Lieutenant Colonel Charles Alan Cathcart de Trafford was born in 1871 and was educated at Stonyhurst. In 1900 he married Lady Victoria, daughter of the 6th Marquis of Hertford. He went to France in November 1915 and commanded the 16th (Service) Battalion Royal Warwickshire Regiment up until June 1916 when it was passed to Lieutenant Colonel R.M.Dudgeon. He then commanded the 91 Training Reserve and then the 51st West Yorkshire Regiment from 1917-19, and served in the Army of Occupation in 1919. He lived at Souldern Court, Banbury. He died in 1950. He and his wife are both buried at Avon Dassett, Warwickshire. Sold with a photograph of Lady de Trafford's headstone.
