  • Fleet-Surgeon George Wilson was born on the 23rd April 1865, he was educated at Edinburgh where he graduated M.B. and C.M. in 1886. He entered the Navy soon afterwards as Surgeon on the 28th February 1887. When he was Surgeon of the Racoon he served in the Naval Brigade that landed at Mombassa, in 1895, and took part in the capture of M'weti, the stronghold of the Arab Chief M'buruk, and was mentioned in despatches and received the medal with clasp. He additionally took part in the bombardment and capture of Zanzibar, on 27th August 1896. He was promoted to Staff Surgeon on the 28th February 1899. He was promoted to Fleet Surgeon on 28th February 1903. He retired on the 19th April 1907. He died on the 19th July 1921, at St.Martin's House, Jersey. He left £885.4.10 in his will.
