    Superintendent Surgeon William Gordon Davidson was born in November 1799; Assistant Surgeon 1st April 1829; Surgeon 22nd April 1844; Staff Surgeon 7th May 1858; Retired 3rd October 1862. Served in the Aska campaign, 1835. Gumsur campaign 1836-37. Burma 1852-53 as P.M.O. Madras troops, capture of Rangoon. Served in the Indian Mutiny as P.M.O. Sagar Field Force, actions at Jijun, Kubrai and Banda, relief of Kirwi, and storm of Panwari.
