one bar, Castor 17 June 1809 (J.McCarogher, Surgn). Small edge bruise, very fine. (1)


  • Surgeon Joseph McCarogher began his service at Plymouth Hospital from the 18th December 1807 as a Hospital Mate until 20th May 1808. He then transfers to the Ville de Paris from the 21st May 1808 he serves as an Assistant Surgeon until the 16th September 1808. He then transfers to HMS Caledonia from the 17th September 1808 as an Assistant Surgeon until the 31st January 1809. He then serves on the Royal William, Brazen, Castor, Abercrombie, Wolverine, Bacchus, Swinger from March 1809 until March 1910, being promoted in the process from Assistant Surgeon to Surgeon. He then serves aboard HMS Favorite from the 25th March 1910 until the 31st January 1811. He then serves on HMS Unicorn from the 1st February 1811 until the 6th October 1814, then to HMS Akbar to the 8th November 1814 to the 1st January 1817. He finally serves aboard HMS Newcastle on the 1st January 1819 until the 17th January 1822.
