The Royal Guelphic Order, neck badge, Military Division in silver-gilt and enamel; Prussia, Order of the Black Eagle, breast star, in silver, silver-gilt and enamel; Iron Cross, 1870, 2nd Class, with 25 year oakleaves; Iron Cross, 1870, 2nd Class, reduced size; Wuertemberg, 1870-71 Medal ; Wuertemberg, 100th Birthday Medal for Wilhelm I 1797-1897; Medal for 1836;
Sweden, Order of Vasa, Knight's breast badge in silver-gilt and enamel. The group housed in a contemporary frame with name.

Together with the group of medals to Rudolf-Johann Georg Ludwig Sittig Graf von Schlitz, comprising:Iron Cross, Second Class, 1914; Wound badge in black; Wound badge in silver; Brunswick, War Merit Cross I Class 1914 (Ernst August Cross); Saxony, Albert Order, Knight's breast badge, with swords, in silver-gilt and enamel; Oldenburg, Freidrich August Cross I Class 1914. Housed in a contemporary frame with identification tag, piece of shrapnel and a plaque confirming his war service. In addition it comes with a small Stahlhelm badge, minor riband bar, canal medallion and set of miniatures for wear on lapel. (Lot)


  • Moritz Christoph Krake Lubbrecht Graf von Schiltz was born at Braunschweig on the 27th April 1851. He served as Koniglich Preussischer Hauptmann im III Garde Regiment zu Fuss. He died at Berlin on the 28th September 1908. He was father of Rudolf Graf von Schlitz.

    Rudolf Graf von Schlitz was born at Berlin on the 8th January 1884. He served in the Reserve Ulanen Regiment, No.5 in Hannover between 1910 and 1933. He was wounded in 1914 in Sedan, and again in March 1918 at Cambrai and once more at Grevillers in May 1918. He was one of the most famous "Herrenreiter", who was reponsible for changing the Horse jumping style in Germany from the German method to the Italian method. He died at Gottingen 21st Dec 1933.

    The family Schlitz gen. von Gortz traces back to the "Hessischem Ur-Adel" with the first ancestor on record being Otto von Schlitz, Erbmarschall des Hochstiftes Fulda in the year 1116. The family owned the estates "Brunkensen and Brunighausen".
