With earlier blued two-stage barrel retained by two spring-held slotted iron bands (the front one replaced) and with turned and beaded girdle, gold spider fore-sight, and engraved bright steel ring back-sight, at the rear of the octagonal breech section two gold-lined Esquibel maker's punzónes (similar to Neue Støckel 302, 303) surmounted by four small gold-lined bud marks and a gold-lined cross, gold-lined touch-hole, plain tang, earlier signed bright flat lock dated 1730 and with moulded border and rounded cock and tail, the latter engraved with a lion and foliage, the plate struck with further gold-lined Esquivel maker's punzón (similar to Neue Støckel 302), the rounded steel engraved with foliated scrollwork, figured full stock (minor chip and bruises, sections of fore-stock replaced) carved with acanthus foliage in relief behind the barrel tang and with fluted butt, finely engraved bright steel mounts (scattered minor surface pitting) decorated with rocailles, martial trophies and scrollwork, partly on a dotted ground, rounded trigger-guard with maker's gold-lined punzón of Salvador Zenarro (similar to Neue Støckel 7227) and with foliate finial, pierced and engraved flat side-plate in the Parisian taste, shaped heel-plate, and horn-tipped ramrod

  • Salvador Cenarro (Zenarro), recorded from 1724 to 1793 (the year of his death), was a student of Joaquín Celaya, and was named honorary gunsmith to King Carlos III in 1761. He was retired at his own request on 2 May 1792 "Due to his advanced age and shortness of sight". He taught Juan de Soto, Carlos Montargis, Manuel Cantero, and Hilario Mateo
