A Very Rare 1856 Pattern Full Dress Lance Cap Of An Officer In The City Of London Yeomanry (Rough Riders)

The black patent leather skull with pale blue cloth trencher top and black patent leather peak inlaid with gold wire, all gold braid trim and waist lace present, gold pearl plume-holder with frontal 'GVR' cypher on a light blue velvet ground, ornate multi-rayed frontal plate of gilt-metal with pierced silver overlay displaying the arms of the City of London, full unit title 'Rough Riders, The City of London Imperial Yeomanry' and battle honour 'South Africa 1900-1902' over oak sprays, lion-mask supporters with velvet-lined chin-chain, the interior with buff-leather sweat-band (seam partly detached), and remains of its silk lining, and complete with its pale blue cock's feather plume and correct pattern gilt-metal holder: in their pattern carrying tins, one with original japanning (the other now painted black, escutcheon missing) (2)
