A late 19th century Dutch silver snuff box
with 1895 date letter and Dutch export mark, import marks for Samuel Boyce Landeck, Sheffield 1895
Of square form, the hinged lid embossed with a scene of two children playing, the underside embossed with a man walking towards a windmill, polished sides, gilt interior; together with three others, one continental example, maker's mark 'BWE', with London import marks, 1926, rounded rectangular form, the hinged lid embossed with a 17th century village scene, the sides with foliate scroll borders, and two English examples, the first by Cooper Bros & Sons, Birmingham 1903, of rectangular form, the hinged lid and sides heavily embossed with flowers and c-scrolls, gilt interior, the second, by A C & S Ltd, London 1973, rounded rectangular form with applied husk borders, the hinged lid embossed with three figures within a country village, gilt interior, weight 7oz.
