  • Annie Fortescue Harrison (1850-1944) was the second wife of Colonel Lord Arthur Hill and daughter of James Fortescue Harrison, the MP for Kilmarnock. Lord Arthur Hill was a soldier and Conservative politician who served as comptroller of the Household between 1885 and 1898. Lady Arthur Hill was a composer of songs and piano pieces, her most notable song being 'In the Gloaming' (1877), with lyrics by Meta Orred.
