A George III silver swing-handled basket
by Thomas Robins, London 1808
Shaped-rectangular form with shell-embellished gadrooned rim, leaf-capped loop handle, raised on a spreading oblong foot, engraved with a crest and motto, length 35cm, weight 37oz.

  • Engraved with the crest of PHILLIPS-MARSHALL in commemoration of William Phillips of Cavendish Square whose life was saved from drowning in Portsmouth Harbour by a strange dog which was subsequently adopted by the family.
