An impressive pair of William IV silver-gilt three-light candelabra
by John Cradock, London 1831
The intricate column formed as an eagle wrapped around and encompassing a lion's pelt to central section of column with profuse foliage and scrolls beneath and above, further fine detailing to capital of scrolls which incorporate masks, raised on an asymmetrical circular base edged with flowing "C" scrolls, the base has three high-relief and chased vignettes, all finely detailed with fantastical sea creatures and lion's mask and pelt, the separate top section formed as three over-lapping and leaf wrapped arms each with cast urn capitals and lower drip pans, the underside modelled as an eagle with out-stretched wings, fixed central flame finial, height 52cm, weight 328oz.
