A mid 16th century silver-gilt and salt-glazed Rhenish "Tigerware" jug
unmarked,
Globular with cylindrical neck, loop handle and mottled brown glaze, the spreading foot, domed and flat chased with tongue & dart motifs below and upper band of cut-out stiff acanthus leaves, the collar engraved with intricate and inter-lacing strap-work and Arabesques, and the cover with radiating flutes and fluted knop finial, height 23cm.
