A George II Irish silver salver
by Ralph Woodhouse, Dublin, second quarter of 18th century
Shaped circular outline, with moulded sloping rim applied with cast and openwork edge of trailing fruiting vine tendrils and scrolls, the centre finely flat chased with six architectural scroll arches; four depicting the four seasons or elements, the remaining two being gods; one Mercury, all within a trailing border of flowers and pomegranates, centred with a coat of arms edged with scrolls, raised on three angular scroll and leaf-capped pad feet, diameter 30.5cm, weight 38.17oz.
