Footnotes

  • For detail of makers' marks see Sir Charles Jackson, Silver & Gold Marks of England, Scotland & Ireland (third edition published 1989): where he records two similar and unidentified makers' marks. The first example page 139, entry 1, a script "D" and the second example page 141, entry 16 - script "TD". Both of these makers' marks bear similarities in the style of lettering, and therefore could possibly be the same unidentified maker.
