    William Lee Hankey was an artist who was always drawn to France. Having studied at Chester School of Art and the Royal College Lee Hankey travelled to France and was much influenced by the leading European artists of the day including Lues Bastien-Lepage.
    During the early 20th century the artist spent many years living and working in France painting the landscapes and the people of Normandy, Brittany and the Cote D'Azur.
    'Menton from the Sea Wall' and the following two lots are wonderful examples of William Lee Hankey's favoured subject matter
