Footnotes

  • After first appearing in 'The Feline Follies' in 1919, Felix became the biggest animated star of the 1920s, and one of the first instantly recognisable animated film characters.

By the early 1920s Felix was appearing in his own comic strip and on merchandise. 'Felix Kept on Walking' released in 1923, was hugely popular and the biggest selling record in the UK during that year.

Provenance: Formerly from the collection of British composer Lawrence Wright (1888-1964).
