An early 19th century cased bone Prisoner of War ship model
The model of an English First Rate, from carved bone and timber, with painted figurehead and stern galleries, detailed bone gun carriages and ship's boats. Bone spars with paper flags and fine rigging. Set on an octagonal wooden base with fine straw work decoration. The model 8ins.(20cm)long. Displayed in a contemporary wooden mirror backed display case, decorated inside and out with delicate straw work designs. In need of restoration. 11x8x4ins.(28x20x10cm)
